Welcome to Probitas Press. Our name Probitas, Latin for honor and integrity in action, defines our publishing company. We search out individuals who have honorably met and conquered extraordinary challenges to improve our world—and have a great story to tell. Our subjects, whatever their flaws, are real-life heroes. To learn from such individuals is not a passing fancy but a vital need, since the past is prologue to the future. As philosopher George Santayana famously observed, those who cannot learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. We also believe, with playwright Tom Stoppard, that “Words are sacred. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones, in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.” Probitas Press is committed to nudging the world.
